The Groupe des Ecoles Centrales (GEC) is a group of 5 elite engineering schools in France which share a common approach to training engineers for leading specialist and managerial roles in industry, based on a mixture of general engineering science and high-level specialisation. With a degree from the GEC, a graduate engineer can pursue a career in any of the traditional engineering disciplines, in research, in design or in management, as well as in other more general fields such as management consulting.
Students in France usually study for two years, post high-school, to take the competitive entrance exam for the Ecoles Centrale. The engineering degree at the Ecoles Centrale takes a further three years, with a programme consisting of a core curriculum in engineering science, and then some specialization in an engineering discipline. There is a high theoretical content to the programme, and the combination of advanced theory and a good basic understanding of the fundamental principles of engineering science enables our graduates to tackle a very wide range of problems, at high level.
The GEC has an international double-degree agreement with 6 partner universities in China (the 4+4 agreement) which enables students from the GEC to replace part of their degree studies in France with an extended period of study in China, with one of the partner universities, and obtain two degrees. The same agreement allows selected students from XJTU to study for two years at one of the Ecoles Centrale, and obtain an engineering degree from them, in addition to their Master degree in China.
In this presentation, representatives from each of the 5 Ecoles Centrale will present their institution, describing the double-degree programme, and the particularities of each Ecole Centrale. They will also talk about student life on campus, and all the different opportunities that are offered to international students, and they will be available to answer any questions you might have. The presentations will be given in English or Chinese, but there will Chinese speakers participating in the presentation, so that questions can be asked (and answered) in Chinese, English or French.
