为推进与世界一流大学的合作，助力学校“双一流”建设，值陕西省与美国明尼苏达州友好省州关系40周年庆典之际，我校拟定于2022年6月至7月举办西安交通大学与明尼苏达大学系列交流活动。

明尼苏达大学是我校重要海外合作伙伴之一，此次西安交大与明尼苏达大学系列交流活动是陕西省为庆祝陕西省与明尼苏达州友好省州关系40周年的重要庆典活动之一，也是我校今年对美实施的首场系列交流活动。此次活动分为线上和线下，包括庆典开幕式、线上学术论坛、学生3MT竞赛、线上学术报告、西安交大与明大合作图片展、明大教育展和留学明大、赴美读研专场说明会等。届时明尼苏达大学校长、理工学院科研及教学负责人、教师、本科生交换及研究生申请项目负责人、赴明大留学的学生代表等将通过云端或线下齐聚西安交大，与我校师生开展面对面学术交流，分享科学前沿合作成果及赴明大留学体验。

为确保活动的多样性且顺利开展，现面向我校广大师生征集以下材料：

西安交大和明尼苏达大学将联合举办Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition（三分钟学术演讲竞赛），旨在培养学生创新精神，鼓励研究生对接企业技术需求，推进校企合作，开展能源与环境领域的创新研究。现面向相关行业企业征集冠名，并为竞赛设立奖励（拟设特等奖、一等奖和二等奖），助力企业人才引进和技术研发。

附：西安交大与明尼苏达大学系列交流活动安排（草案）

2022年6月-7月

The year of 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the sister state relationship between Minnesota State, the United States of America, and Shaanxi Province, the People’s Republic of China. On this special occasion, Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) will deliver together with the University of Minnesota (UMN) a series of events to highlight the institutional relationship between XJTU and UMN during June to July, 2022.

We see the University of Minnesota as a strategic partner. The event series are part of celebratory activities highlighting the engagement of Shaanxi into Minnesota in the past four decades, and the very first serial events to engage an institutional U.S. partner in 2022.

The events will be delivered both virtually and physically, comprising an opening session, virtual academic workshops, student competition, virtual academic presentations, poster fairs, educational fairs, study-abroad and how to apply for the UMN graduate programs information sessions.

The events will gather senior leadership of UMN, faculty, researchers, and administrators of the UMN College of Science and Engineering, the undergraduate and graduate programs recruiters, and the representative XJTU study-abroad or PhD. students at UMN. Research sessions will be set up to present the updates on the research forefront. Students will be able to take advantage of different information sessions to explore either study-abroad or graduate application opportunities.

We encourage both UMN and XJTU faculty, students and administrators to have a strong presence on these events series. We also kindly ask them to provide the following to enrich the contents of the events, and deliver successful and engaging activities:

1. Photos/pictures/video recordings on research and educational collaborative activities between UMN and XJTU (notes/texts/subtitles preferred);

2. Photos/pictures/video recordings from either XJTU study-abroad or degree-seeking students at UMN (notes/texts/subtitles preferred);

3. Photos/pictures/video recordings on short visits to UMN (notes/texts/subtitles preferred);

4. Wishes for the 40th anniversary relationship between Minnesota and Shaanxi, and institutional relationship between UMN and XJTU (Texts or video recordings preferred).

Submissions should be made before May 6th, 2022.

XJTU and UMN will host a Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition as part of the event series. Students will present on this competition their innovative research in alignment with the needs of the industry in three minutes. The competition endeavors to foster the students’ civic service and industry engagement, and build academia and industry connections. The Special Prize, First Prize and Second Prize are set up for winners. Interested industry may reach out to the 3MT Organizing Committee to bid for the sponsorship on the awarding ceremony. The sponsor will finance the prize (favorably in cash) on the ceremony and be able to connect with potential attendees, scholars, researchers, and build a network essential to your professional success.
