On October 2015, sponsored by the Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Department, the Shaanxi Provincial Robot Industry Technology Innovation Alliance and Xi'an Jiaotong University, the first National Robot Creative Design Competition officially launched in Xi'an Jiaotong University, attracting great attention from domestic universities and related enterprises.
The competition received a total of 118 creative design works from 35 universities and research institutions in 16 provinces, attracting more than 600 artificial intelligence and robot enthusiasts across the country. The entries of the participants were in different shapes and in different functions. There is not only a realistic humanoid service-oriented robot, but also elaborate practical engineering robots. The performance section of the contest is extremely brilliant and stunning.
In accordance with the rules of the competition, the Organizing Committee invited experts to comment all the entries for the initial evaluation and they selected 32 pieces of work into the semi-final.
On January 9th, 2016, 12 pieces of work successfully entered into the final competition from the semi-final competition held in Xi'an Jiaotong University.
In the final competition, developed by Taiyuan Research Institute of China Coal Technology & Engineering Group and Xi'an Jiaotong University, the mine intelligent anchor protection robot won the championship with outstanding performance. The service robot from Xi'an Tars Robotics Technology Co., Ltd., and the brain induced rehabilitation robot based on visual movement and intelligent interactive services coal mine rescue robot from Xi'an Jiaotong University won the runner-up. Rabbot, small reconnaissance robot, from Shanghai Jiaotong University and other eight works of design won third place.

In the rapid development of digital information society, artificial intelligence and robotics develop rapidly, design concepts continue to break through innovation and hardware and structural design update steeply. We expect a high degree of artificial intelligence robot in the near future to become a reality. With this wonderful expectation, the 2017 Silk Road International Robots Competition will be registered in the ancient Xi'an with the theme of "Converging Intelligent Technology & Leading Innovation along the Silk Road". We would like to invite all the members of the League and the experts and scholars of the robot industry from various countries along the Silk Road to participate in the competition.
