Between March 21 and 27, XJTU hosted the XJTU-TUS Short-term Student Exchange Program. Professor Yasuo Kawaguchi and ten undergraduate students from Tokyo University of Science (TUS) spent some great time with XJTU teachers and students.
This program is intended to involve students from TUS in a wide range of Chinese culture activities and exchange with Chinese students, so as to widen their horizons, deepen their understanding of the Chinese history and culture, and also boost the friendship between Chinese and Japanese people.
In her address to the welcoming ceremony, Liang Li,director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges,gave a warm welcome to the delegation and wished they would take this opportunity to spend more time together with Chinese students and enjoy their stay in Xi’an. During thefollowingweek, the students attended Chinese language classes, calligraphy course for beginners, lectures on the Culture of the Qin Dynasty,ect.
Besides these activities in school, the students went out to visit the city wall, Beilin Museum, Terra-Cotta Warriors, Huaqing Pool, Shaanxi History Museum and Great Wild GoosePagoda, among other historical sites and tourist attractions.
At the review meeting held on March 27, the students, in pairs, presented Similarities and Differences between Chinese and Japanese Culture and interacted with Chinese students in a Q&A session. After that, two members on behalf of the delegation shared their experiences and feelings during the week and said “the trip to XJTU was the first time they left their country and came to visit China. They had a great week they will never forget, thanks to the hospitality of the students at XJTU. Xi’an, home to their lovely friends, is now almost their second hometown. After return to Japan, they will certainly share their exciting experience here with their families and friends and also welcome more XJTU students to visit Japan, to deepen understanding and friendship between teachers and students of the two universities.” .
