At the invitation of the School of Foreign Languages, the internationally known scholar of applied linguistics at Pennsylvania State University, Professor James P. Lantoff, visited XJTU from October 19 to 23. Professor Lantoff is the director of the Language Learning Center at Penn State and Co-director of CALPER, the Center for Advanced Language Proficiency Education and Research at The Pennsylvania State University. During his visit, Professor Lantolf delivered a lecture on the topic “The Necessary Trend of Social Culture Psychology and Bilingual Teaching Development” to the teachers and students of XJTU. On the afternoon of October 21, Dean Yang Ruiying of the School of Foreign Languages presented Professor Lantoff with an appointment certificate as “honorary professor” of XJTU.
