In the morning of September 22, an Asian Institute of Technology delegation comprised of five members, including President Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Dean of School of Engineering Voratas Kachitvichynaukul and Director of Department of International Cooperation Shawn Patrick Kelly, visited XJTU. President Wang Shuguo met the guests at meeting room 107 of the Science Building.Also present were Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges Director He Changzhong and Deputy Director Lei Yanjun and Director of the Department of Administration of the School of Public Policy and Administration Professor Guo Xuesong.
President Wang Shuguo gave a warm welcome to President Worsak and the delegation. As the government attaches more importance to the development of west regions, XJTU will stay open-minded, strengthen international cooperation and seek parallel growth with foreign universities. He wished Asian Institute of Technology would push ahead cooperation with XJTU and make efforts on the growth of both universities and the development of students on both sides. He Changzhong, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, XJTU, reviewed the developments of cooperation between XJTU and Thailand, including the visit by Princess Sirindhorn and cooperation between the Faculty of Medicine and Chiang Mai University.
President Worsak gave a brief presentation on international programs offered by Asian Institute of Technology. He pointed out that universities should do more than teaching and should also strengthen international cooperation. President Worsak showed great interests in cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and wished the two universities would deepen mutual understanding.
