A Doctoral Paper of School of Science Published on Advanced Energy Materials

Recently, Xu Xin, a doctoral student from the School of Science got his paper entitled “A Nanosheets-on-Channel Architecture Constructed from MoS2 and CMK-3 for High-Capacity and Long-Cycle-Life Lithium Storage”DOI: 10.1002/aenm.201400902published online on Advanced Energy MaterialsIF=14.385as the first author. Jointly guided by Associate Professor Ding Shujiang and Professor Yu Demei, the paper was accomplished by Xu Xin in cooperation with Xiong Wen (David) Lou from Nanyang University of Technology of Singapore. The School of Science, the National Key Laboratory of Metal Strength and the Key laboratory of Imbalanced Synthesis and Control of Materials under the Ministry of Education are the first units of the paper. This was the first time for XJTU to publish a paper on Advanced Energy Materials as the first communication unit. This was the fourth paper among a series of work finished by Ding Shujiang’s research group on molybdenum disulphide (MoS2).
As a kind of new clean electric source, lithium ion battery is widely applied to the portable electronic equipment like mobile phones and laptops. It displays strong development momentum. At present, the study on lithium ion battery applied to electric cars and cars of mixed powers becomes quite popular. Due to its relatively recharging and discharging capacity, MoS2 has become a hotly studied filed to replace the negative material of the traditional lithium ion battery. Shaanxi province is a big province of molybdenum ore resource, which ranks second in China.
Associate Professor Ding conducted the research work on using MoS2 as the negative pole material of lithium ion battery based on the efficient use of the resources in our province and the development requirements of lithium ion battery and published two papers on using MoS2 nanochip as the negative pole material of lithium ion battery (Nanoscale, 2012, 4, 95
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2011, 17, 13142)as the first author. One of the papers was listed in highly quoted papers of ESI. His paper on MoS2 nanochip and the compound material of carbon nanotube published on Chemistry – A European Journal was quoted by the papers published on Nature Chemistry and Chemical Society Review. Later, jointly guided by Associate Professor Ding and Professor Yu, Xu Xin designed and prepared a hybrid nanotube material of MoS2 andTiO2 that was applied to lithium ion storage. This material took the stable TiO2 nanotube as the backing frame and was loaded with MoS2 nanochip that had high activity and high specific capacity and got the cyclic stability that was better than that of MoS2 lump material (Nanoscale, 2014, 6, 5245). The nanostructure of nanosheets-on-channel got by the research group raised the specific surface area and recharging and discharging capacity of the compound material by building hull layer consisting of MoS2 nanochip on the surface of mesoporous carbon CMK-3.
