On the afternoon of September 29, Professors Thorne Lay and Ru-Shan Wu of The University of California, Santa Cruz, visited XJTU and were given appointments as honorary professors. President Wang Shuguo met with Professor Lay and his party in room 107 of the Science Hall and presented each of the professors with an award certificate.
President Wang gave the visiting professors an introduction to XJTU and said he hoped that their two universities could broaden their cooperation and continue to produce outstanding results in their joint research of teachers, joint training of students and laboratory construction based on the current cooperation foundation. Professor Thorne Lay praised the achievements of the two universities and said he thought that the two universities would have additional opportunities for cooperation in the future.
After the meeting, Professor Lay delivered a lecture entitled “A Global Surge of Great Earthquakes and What We Are Learning from Them”.
