On June 20, Dr. John Hardman, the chairman and CEO of the American Carter Center, visited XJTU to discuss former American president Jimmy Carter’s upcoming visit to XJTU and the cooperation with respect to the Youth Forum. XJTU Party Secretary Zhang Maizeng and Vice President Lu Tianjian welcomed the visiting guests.

Party Secretary Zhang and Vice President Lu gave presentations on the history of XJTU, and on its current development strategy. Secretary Zhang, after noting that Chairman Hardman had picked a beautiful season to visit XJTU, said that XJTU would continue to seek new development opportunities, to upgrade the quality of its currents disciplines. He added that XJTU is earnestly looking forward to the visit of former president Carter, and expressed the hope that the cooperation between the two parties could reap rich fruits.

Chairman John Hardman praised the achievements of XJTU in teaching, research and the construction of campus infrastructure. He described the contributions made by the Carter Center in promoting international relationships and said he hoped that former president Carter’s visit could be taken as an opportunity and help the two parties to form a new and strong cooperative relationship and jointly contribute to promote Sino-American relationship.
