On May 23, a delegation led by University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman visited XJTU. They were met by Party Secretary Zhang Maizeng and XJTU President Wang Shuguo.
Party Secretary Zhang welcomed Chancellor Perlman and his party, commended the two universities on the success of their past cooperation and expressed the hope that they could continue to work together in the future and push their cooperation to a new level. He underlined the importance of the conceptions of building first-rate universities and international cooperation.
President Wang Shuguo discussed the roles, responsibilities, school-running concepts, contributions to international development and scientific research of universities with Chancellor Perlman, who pointed out that Nebraska-Lincoln always value the exchange and cooperation with XJTU. Current development plans provide for Nebraska-Lincoln to continue to expand its cooperation with XJTU using the twin platforms of the jointly built Confucius Institute and American Exchange Center as a base.
After the meeting, Chancellor Perlman delivered a lecture entitled “How to Encourage and Support Interdisciplinary Research.”
