A Group of Outstanding Students from Michigan State University Visits XJTU School of Mathematics and Statistics

At the invitation of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, three outstanding undergraduates from American Michigan State University visited the School from May 11 to May 17. During their stay, they conducted a series of exchange activities with students in the Experimental Mathematics Class.
On the morning of May 12, the School of Mathematics and Statistics invited Professor Feng Guangyi from the English Teaching Center for Graduate Students of the School of Foreign Studies to deliver a special lecture entitled “China’s Opening—A Historic View” to American students. The lecture was presided over by Associate Professor Wang Lizhou from the School of Mathematics and Statistics and attended by third and fourth year students from the Experimental Mathematics Class.
In his lecture, Professor Feng recounted the history of the ancient Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, briefly discussed the dynastic succession and gradual integration of various aspects of traditional Chinese culture and disclosed how the essence of Chinese culture was preserved through various historical periods and cultural exchanges. The lecture was comprehensive and up to date, giving the visiting American students a better understanding of the achievements of 5000 year old of Chinese history and civilization.
