On September12, the supervisors of XJTU-HKUST Dual Degree PhD Program DDP) from XJTU went to Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) to meet with the teachers and students there and participated in the welcoming ceremony for new students that evening. Twenty-five students and supervisors from the two universities of DDP attended the welcome dinner party.
The Executive Vice President and Provost of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Professor Shi Wei gave a welcoming speech. The Chairman of the Preparatory Committee of XJTU-HKUST Joint School of Sustainable Development Professor Wu Jingshen introduced the program. The applicants recruited globally or recommended by the universities must have paired supervisors. Each student has two supervisors from the two universities respectively. Finally, 25 applicants (2 foreign students, one student from Hong Kong and 22 students from the mainland) successfully passed the examination of the enrollment committee of the two universities, reached the enrollment requirements of the two universities and smoothly entered the joint training program.
