From May 19 to May 21, the university student delegation of Singapore visited XJTU as part of “The Chinese and Singaporean Excellent University Students Exchange Plan”. The plan was jointly organized by the Ministries of Education of China and Singapore. Its goal is to further develop the friendly relationship between the two countries, strengthen the educational exchange and cooperation between China and Singapore, and increase mutual understanding and friendship among the university students of the two countries.
At the welcoming ceremony, XJTU deputy party secretary Gong Hui told the visitors from Singapore that he hoped their visit would contribute to deepening their understanding of China and Xi’an, as well as XJTU. The head of the Singaporean delegation and the director of the Department of Asian Affairs of National University of Singapore Xu Zhenyi made a speech and expressed his expectation on the activity. The event closed with a performance of Chinese folk music by the XJTU folk music troupe, in which the visitors savored the charm of Chinese traditional culture.
During their visit, the 40-plus member delegation visited XJTU Art Museum and Engineering Workshop, practiced calligraphy, listened to lectures on folk-custom culture and took part in the closing ceremony performance of XJTU Art Festival in 2013.They also visited Hanyang Mausoleum Museum and Guanzhong Folk-Custom Museum.
