On November 1, an academic exchange seminar between XJTU and the University of New South Wales was held in room 107 of the Science Hall. XJTU Vice President Cheng Guangxu and the vice president of the University of New South Wales, Laura Poole-Warren signed a letter of intent concerning the joint training of master students and doctoral students on behalf of the two parties. The deans of the schools directly interested in setting up cooperative programs with the University of New South Wales, including the School of Materials Science, the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Energy & Power Engineering, the School of Electronic & Information Engineering and the School of Law—together with professors in the disciplines involved, attended the signing ceremony and seminar.
In comments at the opening ceremony, Vice Presidents Cheng Guangxu and Laura Poole-Warren said they hoped that the seminar would open up new possibilities for deep and fruitful cooperation between the two schools. During the course of the seminar, the people in attendance exchanged ideas on the current research situation and on areas of mutual interest for research and cooperation within their respective fields.
