The week from November 12 to November 18, was Xi’an Jiaotong University Week at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The week was celebrated with a series of cultural activities, including a photo works organized by the teachers and students in XJTU, concerts, the opening date of the Confucius Institute and screenings of Chinese films. A delegation from XJTU, led by Vice President Song Xiaoping attended the activities held during the week.
During the Cultural Week, Vice President Song Xiaoping and his party reviewed and discussed the current cooperation programs with the President of University of Nebraska J.B. Milliken and the Chancellor of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Harvey Perlman. They met with the governor of the state of Nebraska, Mr. Dave Heineman and the Nebraska secretary of the state, Mr. John Gale, both of whom expressed their full support for the exchange and cooperation programs between XJTU and the University of Nebraska. They said that the effects of these programs are likely to be broad and significant.
