In the afternoon of April 6, Laurent CHAMPANEY, President of Ecole Nationale Supérieured Arts et Métiers (ENSAM), arrived in XJTU with a delegation and signed three cooperation agreements. President Wang Shuguo met the guests at meeting room 107 of the Science Building, with the company of Vice President Xi Guang, and together with leaders from the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, the School of Materials Science and Engineering and the School of Mechanical Engineering.

Wang Shuguo gave a warm welcome to Laurent CHAMPANEY and introduced to the guests that XJTU is a comprehensive university in west China, a member of C9. Successful cooperation between the two universities is attributed to stable and friendly diplomatic relations between China and France. In the meantime, along with the One Belt and One Road Initiative and the development of World -class Universities and Subjects in China, XJTU is looking forward to forge ties with more first-class French universities. President Wang shared his experience as visiting scholar to ENSAM in late 1980’s and highly praised the remarkable achievements ENSAM has made in engineering education.

President Laurent CHAMPANEY said that it was his first visit to XJTU and they attached great importance to this visit to XJTU, a key partner of ENSAM. He wished the two parties would deepen cooperation on student exchange and joint scientific research in the future. The Master-Engineer Double Degrees Program jointly launched by the two universities in 2009 has drawn lavish praise. 14 XJTU students have received engineering degrees from ENSAM and 11 ENSAM students have acquired master’s degrees from XJTU to date.

Wang Shuguo and Laurent CHAMPANEY then signed the University Alliance of the Silk Road Cooperation Agreement, International Cooperation Framework Agreement and Master-Engineer Double Degrees Agreement, marking the start of a new era of partnership between the two universities.

After the meeting, the ENSAM delegation visited national key labs at the School of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Materials Science and Engineering.

At 7:00 pm, Laurent CHAMPANEY was giving a presentation on basic facts of ENSAM to some students at room 207 of the Science Building.
