On the morning of July 12, Anthony Hollander, vice president of Liverpool University in Britain, visited XJTU. Vice President Wang Tiejun met with guests at Science Museum 107. The two sides exchanged views on the history, present situation and future expectations of scientific research cooperation between the two universities, jointly signed an agreement on joint chemistry and chemical laboratories and unveiled the laboratory.

Vice President Wang Tiejun introduced the construction of Science and Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbour and the joint laboratory will also be set up in the future. Vice President Hohlander hoped that relying on the platform of the Joint Laboratory, the two sides would continue to further expand their cooperation, carry out student exchanges and create better conditions for personnel training. Relevant personnel from the Chemical Engineering Institute, the International Department and the Scientific Research Institute jointly witnessed the signing of the contract.

The establishment of the joint laboratory will gather first-class research personnel, build a first-class research platform, form first-class research results, provide a good opportunity for effective cooperation between the two sides in relevant fields, and create more significant technical and economic benefits for both sides. The joint laboratory will be co-operated by Professor Yang Bolun of Xi'an Jiaotong University and Professor Xiao Jianliang of the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. The cooperation is focused on catalytic science and catalytic reaction engineering, material science foundation and material chemistry, energy science foundation and energy chemical process enhancement, etc.
