During the "Silk Road University Alliance" series of events, Xi'an Jiaotong University Chairman of the Board, Zhang Maizeng, President Wang Shuguo and Vice President Xi Guang cooperated with some visiting guests to discuss and promote friendly cooperation between universities.
On May 13, Chairman Zhang met with Mike Wilson, Vice President of Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand. The two sides agreed that diversified exchange and learning is crucial to the growth of the younger generation and should constantly enrich the contents of students' exchange forms. Chairman Zhang suggested looking for a common point of agreement between the two universities' advantageous disciplines and exploring areas of cooperation.
Later, Vice President Mike Wilson and Vice President Xi Guang signed a memorandum of cooperation on behalf of the two universities.
Chairman Zhang also met with Ronyu Li, Executive Vice President of Queensland University. He briefly introduced the history of Xi'an Jiaotong University, the development of disciplines and the construction of Innovation Harbour. Vice President Ronyu Li praised the development of Xi'an Jiaotong University, and both sides reached a consensus on developing cooperation in advantageous disciplines.
On May 13, President Wang Shuguo met with Mikhail Kuznet Sov, Vice President of Moscow State Bowman University of Technology. The two sides said that under the Silk Road University Alliance, the cooperation between the two universities has continued to deepen. In addition to student activities, we look forward to more in-depth cooperation in the field of scientific research. Mikhail Kuznetsov said that with the deepening of Sino-Russian cooperation, exchange between colleges and universities have become more frequent and the prospects for future cooperation between the two schools are very broad.
President Wang Shuguo also met with Mika Hannula, president of Tampere University of Technology in Finland. President Wang Shuguo said that one of the important missions of the Silk Road Alliance is to make young students more exposed to different cultures, broaden their horizons and promote multicultural exchanges and mutual learning. The two sides also discussed the possibility of cooperation in computer science, materials and other fields.
During a meeting with Wataru ISHIZUKA,executive vice president of Japan's Wakayama University, President Wang Shuguo said that the relationship between China and Japan with a strip of water needs more young people to understand each other's country. Deputy Vice President Wataru ISHIZUKA said that the cooperation between the two universities had already made a good start and looked forward to further cooperation in the future.
On the same day, Vice President Xi Guang met with Suk Ying Veronica WONG, Vice President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Malaysian delegation of higher education.
During the meeting with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the two sides reviewed the history of cooperation between the two universities, discussed the UASR project under the framework of the academy system and the "The Belt and Road Initiative" initiative, and discussed the possibility of cooperation in the field of "population migration" and law.
During a meeting with the Malaysian delegation, the two sides also discussed the student exchange program under the framework of the alliance.
During the talks with Nazarbayev University, Vice President Xi Guang briefed Loretta O' Donnell, Vice Dean of Nazarbayev University, on the recent development of Xi'an Jiaotong University and the activities of the Silk Road University Alliance. The two sides reached a basic consensus on the exchange and cooperation between teachers and students.
Vice President Xi Guang also met with Michele BONINO, the representative of the president of Turin University of Technology, and the two sides discussed the student exchange program and the development of exchanges in advantageous disciplines.
