In the afternoon of October 10, a delegation led by Vice President of University of Liverpool Anthony Hollander visited XJTU. Vice President Xi Guang met the guests at the Meeting Room 107 of the Science Building, with the company of the heads of the Department of International Cooperation & Exchanges, the School of International Education and the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology.

Xi Guang introduced the history and academic subjects of XJTU to Anthony Hollander and his colleagues. He pointed out that XJTU, as a key university in west China, has made important contributions to the development and construction of the country after its west-bound relocation. The development of World First-class Universities was launched in full swing in 2017. XJTU will continue to serve economic and social development, to optimize the academic structure and to bring up innovative top-notch talents. Then, a presentation was made by Xi Guang on basic facts of joint labs built by XJTU together with University of Birmingham and University of New South Wales, together with other universities.

Vice President Hollander appreciated the hospitality and wished to take this visit as an opportunity to push forward the work on XJTU- University of Liverpool joint chemical lab, on the basis of tight ties between the two parties. Meanwhile, he recognized the achievements made by Xi’an Jiaotong-liverpool University and the Liverpool Confucius Institute, and reviewed the performances achieved by the joint doctoral programs. Finally, he wished the two universities would explore more possible lines of cooperation in undergraduate and graduate student exchange programs and in the field of medicine.

In the morning on the same day, the delegation held talks with the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology over a series of issues on teacher and student exchanging and the opening of joint lab, and then the delegation had a tour for the labs of the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology.
