In the morning of October 23, Vice President Xi Guang met a delegation led by Vice President of Victoria University of Wellington Mike Wilson at the Meeting Room 107 of the Science Building. 

Xi Guang briefly introduced XJTU’s history and shared with the guests the development plan and the vision of World First-class Universities. He pointed out that internationalization is an integral part of the efforts to build world first-class universities and create first-class academic subjects and is indispensable to the development of World First-class Universities and Subjects. He noted that Xi’an, the starting point of the Silk Road, enjoys unrivaled geographical location and strategic importance. Under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, XJTU initiated Universities Alliance of the New Silk Road with a wide range of academic events and activities held. Vice President Wilson gave a brief presentation on the academic structure of Victoria University of Wellington and its ties with universities in China. He said that Victoria University of Wellington attaches great importance to the cooperation with universities in China and is looking forward to aligning with XJTU and launching joint scientific research and teacher and student exchange programs.

Director of the Department of International Cooperation & Exchanges, He Changzhong, Vice Dean of the School of Telecommunication, Gui Xiaolin, Vice Dean of the School of Software Engineering, Jin Li and Vice Dean of School of Mathematics and Statistics, Chen Zhiping presented at the meeting. After the meeting, the guests had talks with the heads of the School of Software Engineering and the School of Mathematics and Statistics, and visited the School of Telecommunication and discussed joint scientific research, student programs, teacher and student exchange programs in the field of computer science, software, AI, and big data.
