In the morning of October 26, President Wang Shuguo met a delegation led by President Barney Glover, Vice President Yi-Chen Lan and Linda Taylor of University of Western Sydney, Australia at the Meeting Room 107 of the Science Building.

Wang Shuguo firstly accorded a warm welcome to President Barney Glover and the delegation. The two parties then reviewed cooperation on student education and scientific research in recent years and recognized the achievements made in Master of Translation and Interpreting and other joint programs. President Glover showed strong interests in high-level joint programs. Wang Shuguo gave a brief introduction to the guests on the concept and progress of Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbour and noted that the hub attaches great importance to be interconnected with businesses and the society. Some renowned companies will be settled there and cooperation will be launched with universities and businesses. It will facilitate the conversion of scientific and technical results and create more jobs and business opportunities for the students. Wang Shuguo also laid stress on the significance to drive exchanges between young students from these two universities and two countries so as to foster mutual understanding and to build a community of common destiny for all mankind.

Then Wang Shuguo and Glover signed the agreement on bachelor and master credit combination for English majors. Under the agreement, cooperation on TESOL will be launched.

Vice President Xi Guang, Director of the Department of International Cooperation & Exchanges, He Changzhong, Dean of the School of Foreign Studies, Chen Xiangjing and Director of the Department of Nursing, the School of Medicine, Li Xiaomei. Before the meeting, the guests visited the School of Foreign Studies and the School of Medicine and had a conversation with some teacher representatives of the School of Medicine. Concrete cooperation on foreign language and medical talent education were discussed in details.
